There may be a way to restore SMS messages from Samsung Galaxy Note 2 if your phone with a sim card. You want to do this ASAP before the data is overwritten. I don't know anything about the it but pasted a couple of links at the end of this reply that describe how to recover.
Also, for the future, you may want to download a Android backup app from the Android Market.

Check whether the phone was synchronizing with gmail/google. Search the associated Google account for any known txt message content. there may be an associated tag/metadata property identifying txt messages so you can sort them out from email.
Most SMS backup utilities in Android either back up to a file on SD card or to your gmail account as individual items.
Failing the above working, connect your Galaxy phone to your laptop and use an Samsung Data Recovery program to be able to view the deleted files in the task window. After this, click on the messages that you want to recover.

There are some Android data recovery software that do this, either you want to restore Samsung messages or backup SMS.

I only hope you didn't use your storage medium too much after you accidentally erased them, as the actual texts still exist only until they're overwritten.

If you want to restore other data stored in your Samsung card, then you can find an free data recovery tool.
